What do these courses entail?
Health and Physical Education Health and Physical Education are an integral part of the curriculum where students learn valuable life skills, through participation, in the courses offered. This development includes knowing how to express yourself assertively, communicate effectively, make decisions, set goals, enhance leadership skills, build resilience, manage risks, understand self-control and self-understanding, enhance social skills and manage stress. Students develop an understanding of contemporary health issues and the skills needed to live a healthy and active lifestyle. It incorporates a strengths-based approach, focusing on the concept of healthy living. It encourages students to make informed and responsible decisions about health issues and also to promote their own and others' health and well-being. |
Movement and physical activity Students will apply movement concepts and strategies to enhance their performance and move with competence and confidence. While participating in physical activities, students will analyse and evaluate theories, techniques and strategies that can be used to understand and enhance their quality of movement and physical activity performance. They will explore the place and meaning of physical activity, outdoor recreation and sport in their own lives, whilst experiencing the varied roles within organised sport and recreation. All content undertaken by students will focus on personal and social skills that can be developed through participation in movement and physical activities. |
