"I like how RE provides us a deeper understanding of our beliefs and values. It helps us grow a greater connection with God."
What does the course entail?
The Religious Education Learning Area at Kolbe Catholic College places Christ at the centre of all the learning area’s activities through course programming, assessments, resources and student involvement. The learning area aims to inspire students to flourish in their faith and in their knowledge of the Church, its history, teachings and traditions. The Religious Education program at Kolbe Catholic College is that promulgated and mandated by the diocesan Bishop. The Religious Education program shall relate the knowledge and understandings of the Catholic faith to students’ real life situations and experiences. Religious Education shall always present Catholic beliefs and practices in the context of the Christian Promise of Salvation. Students at Kolbe Catholic College therefore follow the Perth Archdiocesan Religious Education Course. Religious Education in Year 7 is about preparing students for their time at the College by introducing them to the person, the life and the story of Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Born in 1894 Kolbe's courageous story of personal sacrifice and courage sends a very valuable Christian message to our students. His death in 1941 at the hands of the Nazi soldiers in Auschwitz gives students a contemporary understanding of Sacrifice and Sainthood. |
“He is in you, he is with you and he never abandons you. However far you may wander, he is always there, the Risen One. He calls you and he waits for you to return to him and start over again. When you feel you are growing old out of sorrow, resentment or fear, doubt or failure, he will always be there to restore your strength and your hope.” Pope Francis. Christ is Alive. 2019
