“Through studying different concepts in science, it has opened up different opportunities that I would like to explore such as physics and earth and space science.”
What does the course entail?
|
In Year 9, students consider the operation of systems at a range of scales. CHEMISTRY Students will describe the structure of atoms and explain the arrangement of elements in the periodic table. They write chemical formulae to represent simple compounds and word equations for chemical reactions. PHYSICS Students will describe wave and particle models of energy as a method of transfer of light and sound. BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE Students explore how plant and animal adaptations enable survival, and how they respond to external temperature changes. The describe the impact of abiotic and biotic factors on population size and species diversity. EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE Students will describe how interactions within and between Earth’s spheres affect the carbon cycle, water cycle, and global climate. It is important to note that students will be grouped into strands for Year 10 science based on their achievements in Year 9. For more information, please see the Year 10 Science page. |
