As part of our commitment to providing diverse and challenging learning opportunities for Kolbe students, an extension program will be run for Year 7 - 9 students. The Gifted and Talented program consists of sessions where students select open-ended tasks or a competition where they will be able to work with like-minded peers. The aim of the program is to extend and challenge the academically gifted students in our Middle School by providing them with learning opportunities that are commensurate with their talents and learning abilities.
Selected students from Years 7, 8 and 9 are invited to participate in a program that occurs before school with various workshops and excursions tailored to students' needs.
During these sessions, students work with the teachers in charge to negotiate the topics covered. This process enables pupils to assume greater ownership of their learning and sustains student engagement. Teachers responsible for the program have a passion for working with gifted students and are skilled in developing programs that will meet the needs of these students.
